Signs

When to replace your furnace

It’s usually time to replace when:

  • The furnace is 15 to 20+ years old
  • A cracked heat exchanger or major part has failed
  • Repairs are adding up year after year
  • Rooms heat unevenly or the system is noisy
  • You’re replacing the AC and want a matched system

What we do

Your replacement options

Gas furnaces

Standard and high-efficiency gas furnaces, sized to your home and matched to your air conditioner.

Heat pumps

All-electric heating and cooling in one system, a good fit for Bakersfield’s short winters.

Package units

Rooftop and ground package units for homes and businesses, including crane lifts when needed.

Permits and HERS testing

A replacement isn’t finished until it passes inspection

California’s energy code treats a new AC or furnace as an alteration. That means a building permit and a check by an independent HERS rater. We pull the permit with the right building department (City of Bakersfield or Kern County, depending on your address) and schedule the testing.

  • Duct leakage test. Required in most cases when new heating or cooling equipment connects to existing ducts. Leaks get sealed before we sign off.
  • Refrigerant charge check. Required for new AC equipment in the Central Valley, so the system is charged right for our heat.
  • Airflow check. On AC replacements, confirms enough air moves across the coil to do its job.
  • Paperwork you keep. Permit card and test results, which matter when you sell the house.

FAQ

Questions we get a lot

How long does a furnace replacement take?

Most furnace replacements are done in a day. Rooftop package units that need a crane are scheduled around the lift.

Gas furnace or heat pump?

It depends on your home, your utility rates and whether you’re replacing the AC too. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs and give you prices for both.

Do you pull permits?

Yes. A furnace replacement in California needs a permit, and when it connects to ductwork the ducts usually need a leakage test by a HERS rater. We pull the permit and schedule the test.

Will you remove the old furnace?

Yes. The old equipment is hauled away and disposed of properly.
